Meet Mack

The Firedog with a Heart as Big as His Bark

Early Life: A Special Beginning

Born on Father’s Day in 2017, Mack wasn’t just any pup—he came into the world with a mission. With a lineage that stretches from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (his mom’s hometown) to Concord, New Hampshire (his dad’s roots), Mack was destined to be something special. One of ten pups in his litter, Mack grew up surrounded by love and a whole lot of belly rubs.

Mack’s Firefighting Family

While his brothers and sisters headed off to new adventures in Puerto Rico, Connecticut, Upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and across Long Island, Mack found his forever home in Farmingville, New York—at the heart of the fire community. And it’s safe to say he’s been stealing hearts and sounding sirens ever since.
One of Mack’s sisters, Molly, may have made headlines as the official mascot and therapy dog at the New York State Fire Museum in Hudson, NY, but Mack holds his own as a local celebrity. As the official mascot of the Farmingville Fire Department, Mack can often be spotted perched proudly atop a firetruck during parades, tail wagging as he soaks in the cheers of the crowd.

Mack’s Role in Fire Safety

Whether he’s giving high-fives, accepting belly rubs, or “supervising” John as he teaches kids how to stop, drop, and roll, Mack is more than a mascot. He’s a bridge between safety and smiles, helping to make important lessons unforgettable.

Personality & Passions

Mack has a true firefighter spirit—loyal, brave, and always ready to respond when there’s a crowd to cheer up or a child to comfort. He’s a natural in the spotlight, loves posing for photos, and takes his job of being the “pawfect” ambassador for fire safety very seriously (even if he occasionally gets distracted by a good squeaky toy or a snack). At events, it’s not unusual to see him patiently sitting while a line of kids wait to pet him, or rolling around in the grass after a long day of community service.

Off-Duty Life

When he’s not out saving the day with his charm, Mack enjoys downtime with his best friend and owner, John Caputo. Together, they’ve created a legacy that brings fire safety into neighborhoods, schools, and celebrations—one wag at a time.

A True Hometown Hero

From puppyhood to parade grand marshal, Mack has proven that sometimes, heroes come with four paws and a whole lot of personality. If you haven’t had the chance to meet him yet, wait—he’ll be the one riding into your event on a firetruck, tongue out, tail high, and ready to turn up the heat on fun.
